Clearing homes in Blackrock
Blackrock has three distinct kinds of housing and we see all of them. In the village itself and along Idrone Terrace, Newtown Avenue and the roads behind Main Street there are Victorian terraces and two-storey cottages, many with a basement, a steep front step and no off-street parking at all.
Up the hill on Avoca Avenue, Mount Merrion Avenue and Carysfort Avenue the houses are a different scale: large detached and semi-detached homes on big plots, often lived in by one family for fifty or sixty years, with garages, attics and outbuildings full of things nobody has looked at in decades. Then there are the apartments around Frascati and along the Rock Road, built from the 1980s onwards and now turning over regularly as people move on.
That means house clearance in Blackrock ranges from half a van for a one-bed flat to two or three days in a six-bedroom house. We quote each one on its own merits, usually from photos sent on WhatsApp.

What we clear in Blackrock
- Long-held family homes on the avenues, cleared for sale or after a death. Our bereavement clearance service works at the family’s pace and sets aside anything that looks personal.
- Downsizing moves: a couple leaving a large house on Carysfort Avenue for an apartment near the village takes the good furniture and asks us to deal with the rest.
- Attics, garages and sheds in the bigger houses, which hold suitcases, school books, old tools and garden furniture by the vanload. See our attic clearance page for how we handle a tight hatch.
- Apartments by Frascati and on the Rock Road, including end-of-tenancy clear-outs for landlords.
- Single heavy items: a piano, a wardrobe that will not come down the stairs in one piece, a cast-iron bath after a renovation.
If the garden has been let go and there is a lot of green waste or old fencing to shift as well, that is a job for a separate garden waste clearance service rather than a clearance van.
Access, parking and the practical bits
The village is the awkward part. Main Street and the streets off it are narrow and busy, and the public car parks fill up quickly at the weekend when Blackrock Market is on. For houses on Idrone Terrace or behind Main Street we arrive early, park as close as the street allows and carry everything to the van.
On the avenues the opposite applies: there is a driveway, but it can be long, gravelled and gated, and the van may need to reverse in. If there is a side gate to the back garden we use it for shed and garage contents so nothing goes through the house.
Blackrock is well served by the DART, which matters because many of the people arranging a clearance here are travelling out from the city or in from abroad and need to meet us at the house without a car. We are happy to agree a time that works with the trains.
Why people in Blackrock call us
Blackrock is the kind of place where a house has often been in the same family since it was built, so the clearance that eventually comes is a big one and a sensitive one. Families want a crew that will turn up when they said, treat the house with respect, and not quibble when the attic turns out to hold twice what anyone expected. That is what we do.
We hold a Waste Collection Permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01), we are fully insured, and we are based in Dublin. Furniture in good condition goes for reuse or donation, recyclables are separated and only genuine waste goes to a licensed transfer station. Our article on what a house clearance service removes covers the edge cases.
We cover the whole coast from here, including Booterstown on one side and Dún Laoghaire on the other, as well as Dundrum inland.
