Clearing homes in Swords
Old Swords is Main Street, running from the medieval castle at the north end down past the Pavilions, with the older terraces, the courthouse and County Hall along it, and the Ward River valley park to the west. Everything else is newer. Brackenstown and Rivervalley are 1970s and 80s estates of three-bed semis and terraces with long gardens and sheds; Boroimhe and Holywell are 1990s and 2000s; Applewood was built as a village in itself in the 2000s, with apartments and duplexes over shops around a central square.
That spread means two kinds of job. In the older estates it is families who have been there since the houses were new, with a full attic, a shed and a garage to match. In Applewood, Holywell and the blocks near Main Street it is apartments changing tenants, with lifts, car parks and management companies to deal with.
Rivervalley and Brackenstown back onto the Ward River valley, and the long gardens there usually mean a shed and a side passage to get it out through.
Dublin Airport is on the doorstep, so there is also a share of short-let and staff accommodation that turns over quickly.

What we clear in Swords
- Full house clearances in Brackenstown, Rivervalley and Boroimhe: furniture, carpets, white goods, the hot press, the attic and the shed in one visit.
- Apartment and duplex clearances in Applewood, Holywell and around the Pavilions, usually between tenancies. Our apartment clearance page covers lifts, parking and notice to the management company.
- Garages and sheds. Older Swords estates have long back gardens and the shed at the end has usually been full for twenty years; see what we take on our garage clearance and shed clearance pages.
- General junk removal: the half-dozen bulky items that will not fit in the car, from a broken fridge freezer to an old bed base and a rolled carpet.
- Office and shop clear outs on Main Street and in the business parks towards the airport, outside trading hours where needed.
Garden waste in bulk, rubble from a kitchen refit and anything hazardous are not part of a standard van load. Ask us first and we will either include it in the quote or point you to the right service for it.
Access, parking and the practical bits
In the estates, the van parks on the driveway or kerbside and we carry through the side gate, so the job is quick and the hallway stays clean. Rivervalley and Brackenstown have wide roads; some of the newer courts in Holywell and Boroimhe are tighter, and we may stop at the entrance and carry a few extra metres.
Main Street itself is pay-and-display and busy during the day, so for the terraces and apartments there we try for an early start or use the rear lane where one exists. Applewood has underground car parks with height limits, so we normally load from the street or a visitor space.
The M50 and M1 make Swords a straightforward run from our Dublin base, and getting a loaded van back out to a transfer station is just as simple.
Why people in Swords call us
Swords households call us for three reasons: a sale or move, a parent’s house being cleared, and a rental that needs to be empty by the weekend. The common thread is volume. A three-bed semi that has been lived in for forty years will fill a van or two, and carrying it to a skip yourself is a weekend you will not get back.
Two people and a box van do the lifting, and because we hold a waste collection permit, you know where everything goes: anything reusable is kept back for donation or resale, recyclables are separated, and what is left goes to a licensed transfer station. If you are weighing it up, read our take on what a house clearance service removes. Landlords near the airport with a short-let left in a state can have furniture, bedding and bagged rubbish cleared in a single visit and the place swept for the cleaner, though the cleaning itself is a separate trade.
We cover the whole of Fingal around Swords, including Malahide on the coast and Donabate to the north, and the north city through Drumcondra and Artane.
