Clearing homes and flats in Rathmines
Rathmines has a bit of everything: three-storey redbricks on Leinster Road and Grosvenor Square, the smaller terraces around Mount Pleasant and Gulistan, 1930s houses towards Kenilworth, and a steady run of newer apartment blocks along Rathmines Road Lower and near the Swan Centre. A lot of the older houses are split into flats, so the job is just as likely to be one floor as the whole house.
That mix shapes how we work here. We clear single rooms, full houses and everything in between, and we are happy doing the small awkward jobs, like a bedsit at the top of a return stairs, that bigger waste companies will not quote for.

What we clear in Rathmines
- End-of-tenancy clear outs for landlords and letting agents: beds, mattresses, wardrobes, sofas, bagged belongings and whatever the last tenant left behind.
- Full house clearances when a family home on roads like Leinster Road, Belgrave Square or Castlewood Avenue is being sold or let for the first time in decades.
- Bereavement clearances, handled quietly and at the family’s pace. See how we approach clearing a home after a death.
- Attics, returns and basements in period houses, which tend to hold decades of boxes.
- Single bulky items: a sofa that will not fit down the stairs, an old cooker, a washing machine, a piano stool, a broken bed.
If the property also needs a professional clean afterwards, that is a separate job for a cleaning company, and we are happy to time the clearance around it.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Rathmines is a Dublin 6 postcode with residents’ permit parking on most side roads and pay-and-display on the main road. The van parks as close to the door as it can and we carry everything out by hand, which is the normal way of working in converted houses with no lift.
Stairs, a shared hallway and a narrow front garden are all fine. If the house has a rear lane (common behind Leinster Road and Grosvenor Road), tell us, because loading from the back is quicker and keeps the front hallway clear for other residents.
We ask you to do two things before we arrive: set aside anything you want to keep, and let the other tenants or the management company know a van will be loading for an hour or two.
Why people in Rathmines call us
Most of our Rathmines work comes from three groups: landlords turning a property around between tenants, families clearing a parent’s house, and people moving out of a flat who simply have more stuff than they can carry to the recycling centre. For all three, the cheapest option is usually a two-person crew and a van rather than a skip, because there is nowhere to put a skip on a Rathmines street and you would still have to carry everything to it yourself.
We separate what can be reused or recycled from what genuinely has to go to a licensed transfer station, and we leave the rooms swept. If you are weighing it up, our guide to house clearance versus skip hire covers the trade-offs honestly.
We also cover the areas either side of Rathmines, including Harold’s Cross, Dartry, Terenure and Donnybrook, so a job that spans two addresses is no problem.
