Clearing homes in Castleknock
Castleknock sits between the Phoenix Park and Blanchardstown, and it has kept its village feel around the church, the shops and Castleknock College, whose grounds hold the ruins of the old castle that gave the area its name. The houses are a step up in size from most of Dublin 15. Along Castleknock Road and the roads off it towards Luttrellstown you find large detached homes on their own grounds, many of them owned by the same family for decades.
Deerpark and Laurel Lodge are 1970s and 80s estates of generous semi-detached and detached houses with garages, while Carpenterstown and the roads towards Coolmine came later with a more compact layout. Both Castleknock and Coolmine stations are on the Maynooth line, so there is a share of rented homes near the stations as well.

What we clear in Castleknock
Most of the work here is a whole house rather than a single room, and the volume reflects the size of the properties.
- Full house clearances before a sale, typically when a couple downsizes or a family home passes to the next generation. Four or five bedrooms, a dining room of furniture nobody wants, and a double garage are the normal shape of it.
- Bereavement clearances, handled quietly and only when the family is ready. Our page on bereavement clearance explains how we work and what we set aside.
- Garages and attics as standalone jobs. Castleknock garages tend to hold decades of tools, bikes and garden gear; our garage clearance guide covers how to prepare one.
- Furniture removal: wardrobes, pianos, sideboards and three-piece suites that are too big to move yourself and too good to break up. We will tell you if something is worth donating rather than dumping.
- Conservatories, sun rooms and garden rooms, which many Castleknock houses have and which fill up with outdoor furniture and exercise equipment.
If the house is going through probate first, this plain-English piece on whether you can clear a house before probate is worth reading.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Castleknock is one of the easier places in Dublin to work. Almost every house has a driveway, and most have a side passage to the back garden, so the van reverses in and we carry straight out of the front door or round the side. On the residential roads there is no pay-and-display to worry about and no neighbours’ cars blocking the gate.
The things that take time here are inside: long upstairs landings, floored attics with a great deal stored in them, and heavy solid-wood furniture bought to last. We bring a two-person crew and allow a second day for the very large houses rather than rushing the first.
The village itself, around the church and the shops on Castleknock Road, is the only spot where parking takes thought; for the terraces and apartments there we use the side roads and start early.
Please let us know if there are gates with a code, an alarm on the garage, or a shared private road, as some of the roads off Castleknock Road are.
Why people in Castleknock call us
In Castleknock the question is rarely whether you could do it yourself; it is whether you want to spend three weekends and a dozen trips to the recycling centre doing it. A two-person crew and a box van clears a large family home in a day or two, and we take the sorting off your hands: usable furniture to reuse or donation, metals and timber separated, the rest to a licensed transfer station. Pricing here is mostly about volume and the weight of the furniture rather than access, so a photo of each room on WhatsApp gives us nearly everything we need to quote.
Many of the people who ring us are adult children organising a parent’s move from a distance. We can work from photos sent on WhatsApp, meet a relative or estate agent at the door, and send you pictures of the cleared rooms afterwards. There is more on getting ready in our guide to preparing for a house clearance.
If a job spans two addresses, we cover Blanchardstown next door, Lucan across the Liffey and the north city side through Phibsborough in the same way.
