Clearing homes and apartments in Donaghmede
The older Donaghmede was built through the 1970s on the fields between Coolock and Baldoyle, and it looks it: estate roads of three- and four-bed semi-detached houses with a driveway, a side passage and a garage, grouped around Grange Road, the shopping centre and the church. Grangemore and Grange Abbey are typical, and Ayrfield on the Coolock side is more of the same.
Then, from the early 2000s, the land north of the Hole in the Wall Road was built as something quite different. Clongriffin was planned around its own DART station and main street, with apartment blocks, duplexes and townhouses; Belmayne followed off the Malahide Road with a similar mix; and Father Collins Park was laid out alongside them. A lot of those homes are rented, and nearly all have a management company.
So a Donaghmede job can be a long-held family home going on the market, with the garage and attic to match, or a modern apartment that needs to be empty and swept between one tenant and the next. We do both, and we quote them differently because the work is different.

What we clear here
- Apartments and duplexes in Clongriffin and Belmayne between tenancies, including beds, sofas, white goods and whatever the tenant left. Our apartment clearance page covers lifts, car parks and managing agents.
- Family homes in the 1970s estates being sold after a lifetime, often with the attic and garage still untouched. See house clearance.
- Furniture that will not fit in the car: a corner sofa, a wardrobe, a bed base, a fridge freezer. Our furniture removal service takes single pieces as well as full loads.
- Garages and side passages full of bikes, buggies, flat-pack boxes and old carpet.
- Rubbish and bagged junk after a move or a refurbishment, loaded and gone in one trip.
Reusable furniture and household goods are set aside for donation or resale where we can place them, recyclables go their own way, and genuine waste ends up at a licensed waste transfer station. We hold a Waste Collection Permit for all of it.
Lifts, car parks and driveways
In Clongriffin and Belmayne the access questions are the same as in any modern development: where the van can stop, whether the lift is big enough for a mattress, and what the management company wants. We work from a set-down space or visitor bay at the entrance, protect the lift where required, and keep the common hallways clear while we load. The underground car parks nearly all have height barriers that rule the van out, so we do not rely on them.
In the older estates it is simpler. The van goes on the driveway, the side gate gives access to the garage and garden, and the carrying is a few metres. Grange Road and the Hole in the Wall Road get busy at school times and around the shopping centre, so we time the run accordingly.
Landlords who live elsewhere can leave keys with a neighbour or the letting agent, and we send photos when the apartment is empty.
Why people in Donaghmede call us
For landlords and letting agents the appeal is a single phone call: one crew removes the furniture, the bags and the white goods, sweeps through and hands back an empty apartment, with the disposal properly permitted. If you are new to turning a rental around, this landlord guide to end-of-tenancy clearance walks through the sequence.
For families in the older estates the reasons are the same as everywhere on the north side: a parent has died or gone into care, the house has to be sold, and nobody has a van or a free weekend. Two of us do the lifting and the sorting, and the family decides what stays. Our guide to what happens to items after a house clearance explains where everything goes.
Donaghmede sits between Coolock, Kilbarrack and Baldoyle, with Portmarnock a few minutes up the coast, and we cover all of them. For everywhere else between the Liffey and the airport, start at our North Dublin page.
