Clearing homes in Mount Merrion
Mount Merrion is one of the most settled suburbs in south Dublin. The houses went up between the 1930s and the 1950s, most of them detached or semi-detached with a garage, a driveway and a long back garden, and a large share are still owned by the families who bought them new or inherited them. That means when a house here comes to be cleared it is usually the whole thing, from the attic to the shed, after decades of careful keeping.
The Rise climbs from the N11 up through the middle of the suburb, and Trees Road, Wilson Road, North Avenue, South Avenue and the roads around Deerpark fan out from it. UCD’s Belfield campus is directly across the dual carriageway, Stillorgan is at the top of the hill and Booterstown and Blackrock are down Mount Merrion Avenue towards the sea.
Deerpark itself, the public park in the middle of the estate, is where the whole suburb walks its dogs, and the small group of shops beside it is as much of a village centre as Mount Merrion has. It is a place where people stay, which is exactly why the clearances here tend to be large ones.

What we clear in Mount Merrion
- Complete house clearances before a sale, typically a four- or five-bed house with every room furnished and an attic above it. See what a house clearance covers.
- Attics, which in the 1930s houses here are large, often floored and reached by a proper ladder, and tend to hold suitcases, decorations, schoolbooks and furniture from three generations. Our attic clearance service deals with them.
- Garages and garden sheds, often holding the second lot of everything.
- Partial clearances when a parent is moving to a smaller place or into care and the house is being prepared for letting.
- Student lets near UCD, where a house that has been rented for years needs the accumulated furniture taken out before refurbishment.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Access in Mount Merrion is about as easy as it gets in Dublin. The roads are wide and quiet, nearly every house has a driveway and there is no pay parking to think about. The van reverses up to the front door or the garage and we work from there.
The houses are deceptive in size. Many have been extended at the back and into the attic, and the original garage has often become a utility room or a study, so a house that looks like a three-bed from the road can be considerably more inside. Photos of each room, including the attic and anything built on, help us quote accurately and avoid a second trip nobody planned for.
Because the roads are residential and neighbours tend to know one another, we keep noise down, do not block driveways and finish with a sweep of the drive and the path.
Why people in Mount Merrion call us
The call usually comes from a son or daughter handling a parent’s house. Sometimes the parent has died and the family is dealing with probate and the estate agent at the same time, and sometimes the parent is moving to a smaller home and wants certain things kept and the rest gone. We work at the pace that suits, and we are used to being asked to look out for photographs, documents and small valuables as we go. This plain guide on whether you can clear a house before probate answers the question families ask most.
We hold Waste Collection Permit NWCPO-25-13287-01 and are fully insured. Good furniture, kitchenware, books and tools are set aside for reuse or donation, recyclables are separated and the remainder goes to a licensed waste transfer station. If the house needs to be cleared after a death, our bereavement clearance page explains how we approach it and what we ask of the family beforehand.
We cover the surrounding areas as well, including Stillorgan, Booterstown and Blackrock, and a job that includes a storage unit or a second property nearby can be done on the same booking.
