Clearing homes in Stillorgan
Stillorgan grew up around the old village on the Dublin to Bray road, and the estates that filled in the fields on either side of it between the 1950s and the 1970s are the bulk of what we clear here. Merville, Oatlands, St Laurence’s Park, Beaufield and the roads off Kilmacud Road Upper are rows of three- and four-bed semi-ds and bungalows, many of them still with the original owners or their children.
The shopping centre, one of the first of its kind in Ireland, sits at the centre of all this, and the newer apartment developments near it and along the N11 bring a steady flow of smaller clearances between tenants and after sales. Mount Merrion is on one side, Kilmacud and Sandyford on the other, and the green line stop at Stillorgan puts the area three stops from Dundrum.
Stillorgan sits on the N11 and the M50 is close by, so a job here is easy to fit in around other work rather than needing a day set aside for travel. That matters when an estate agent has given you a date and the house has to be empty by it.

What we clear in Stillorgan
- Whole-house clearances when a family home in Merville or Oatlands is sold after fifty or sixty years with the same family. These are usually a full day and more than one van load.
- Garages and attics, which in a Stillorgan semi-d are often the fullest rooms in the house. Our garage clearance page explains how we tackle one.
- Bungalows on the older roads, where everything is on one level and the loft hatch has not been opened in years.
- Apartments in the blocks around the village and off the N11, cleared for landlords, executors and people moving on.
- Single items and part loads: a three-piece suite, a cooker, a wardrobe that will not come apart, a shed’s worth of rusted tools.
If the garden has been let go and there is green waste or old decking to shift as well, that calls for a separate garden waste clearance, and we can time our visit to line up with it.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Driveways are the norm in Stillorgan, so the van usually pulls straight in and the loading is quick. On the older roads the drive can be short and the front garden walled, in which case we park on the road with hazards on, and the estate roads are wide enough that this causes no trouble to anyone.
The apartment blocks are a different matter. Most have a management company that wants notice before a van loads, a lift that may need protecting and a car park with a height barrier that a box van will not clear. Tell us the block when you send photos and we will sort out the arrangements before the day rather than on it.
Traffic on the N11 and around the shopping centre is heavy at school times and on Saturday afternoons, so we try to start early and be loaded before it builds. Nothing needs to be bagged or sorted before we arrive, just set aside what the family wants to keep and point out anything you are unsure about.
Why people in Stillorgan call us
A lot of our Stillorgan work is bereavement and downsizing. The estates were built for young families in the 1950s and 1960s, and a generation later those same houses are being cleared by sons and daughters who live elsewhere and need the job done in a day or two around work. We handle bereavement clearances quietly and at the pace the family sets, and we check for photographs, papers and small valuables as we go.
Everything we take is sorted. Furniture and household goods in good condition go for reuse or donation, metals, cardboard and electrical goods are separated for recycling, and only what is genuinely waste goes to a licensed transfer station under our Waste Collection Permit, NWCPO-25-13287-01. If you are deciding between us and a skip on the driveway, our house clearance versus skip hire guide sets out the differences plainly, including the point that a skip still needs someone to fill it.
We also cover Mount Merrion, Sandyford and Blackrock, so a clearance that involves a parent’s house in Stillorgan and a storage unit or a flat nearby can be done as one job on one quote.
