Clearing homes in Palmerstown
Old Palmerstown is a strip of village along the Lucan road above the Liffey, with the mill lane running down to the river and Stewarts at the western end. The suburb that surrounds it is mostly from the 1960s and 70s: semi-detached houses on Kennelsfort Road and the roads off it, Palmerstown Avenue and Drive, Glenaulin towards Chapelizod, Oakcourt, and Palmerstown Woods out towards the N4. Later infill added some detached houses and a few small apartment blocks, but the semi-d with a driveway and a garage is the typical house.
Those houses are now fifty and sixty years old, and the people who bought them new are the generation now moving on. When the family comes to clear one, it is the full contents of a long life: the good room furniture nobody sat on, the hot press, the floored attic, the garage with the car parked outside it, and the shed.
We handle that as a two-person crew with a box van. You send photos, we quote, we arrive on the agreed day and carry everything out, sorting as we load.

What we clear in Palmerstown
- Full house clearances before a sale, including the attic, garage and shed, so the house is ready for the photographer in one go.
- Attics, which in Palmerstown are often floored and used as a spare room for storage. Our attic clearance service covers them whether or not there is a proper ladder.
- Garages and sheds, loaded from the driveway or side passage without going through the house.
- Bereavement clearances, with personal papers, photographs and jewellery set aside for the family before anything is loaded. This bereavement clearance checklist is a sensible place to start if you are the executor.
- Downsizing, when a couple is moving to something smaller and only the best pieces go with them.
- Single items: a wardrobe, a sideboard, a fridge freezer, a sofa bed. Our furniture removal page explains how we price these.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Access in Palmerstown is good. Nearly every house has a driveway and a side passage, so the van comes off the road and the shed and garage contents never go through the house. The older village houses on the Lucan road are the exception, with on-street parking and a busy road outside, so there we park with the hazards on and carry.
Attics are the slow part. A floored attic reached by a folding ladder means a steady chain of one person up and one down, and heavy items like a tank or a chest of drawers are lowered rather than carried. We allow for that in the quote when you tell us about it.
Kennelsfort Road is a through route and gets busy at school times, and the roads around Liffey Valley are heavy on Saturdays. The N4 and M50 junction is on the doorstep, so getting here from our Dublin base or moving on to a second job in Lucan is quick.
Why people in Palmerstown call us
In Palmerstown the alternative to us is normally a skip on the driveway. That works if you have the time and the backs to fill it, but a full house, attic and garage is more than one skip, and the skip company will not take the mattresses, the fridge or the television. We take the lot, do the carrying, and separate it so that usable furniture goes for reuse or donation, recyclables are kept apart, and only genuine waste goes to a licensed transfer station under our waste collection permit.
If you are deciding between the two, our comparison of house clearance and skip hire is honest about when each makes sense. We sweep the rooms before we leave, and if there is a date for the estate agent’s photographer we work to it.
Palmerstown families are often spread out, with one sibling in Lucan, one in Castleknock and one abroad, and we are used to taking instructions from whoever holds the keys while keeping the others updated with photos as the rooms empty.
Palmerstown adjoins Lucan to the west and Ballyfermot to the south, with Castleknock across the Liffey and Clondalkin beyond Liffey Valley, and we work all of them from the same base. Two addresses in the family on the same day is a normal request.
