Clearing homes in Churchtown
Churchtown was a rural village with a handful of big houses until the suburbs reached it after the war. The estates that followed, from Braemor Road and Braemor Park down to Nutgrove Avenue and across to Landscape Park and Landscape Road, are mostly three-bed semis and single-storey bungalows with a front garden, a driveway and a garage. The Bottle Tower on Whitehall Road is about the only thing older than the houses around it.
A large share of our Churchtown work is the first clearance a house has ever had. The original owners moved in when the estate was new, raised a family, and the attic, garage and hot press filled up slowly over decades. When the house is finally sold, or a son or daughter takes it on and starts a renovation, all of that has to come out at once.
We clear the full house, or just the parts the family cannot face, and we take the garden shed and the garage in the same visit. You set aside what you want to keep; we carry the rest to the van.

What we clear in Churchtown
- Whole-house clearances before a sale, with the attic, garage and shed included, which is the most common job we do on this side of Dublin 14.
- Bereavement clearances for families who need a house cleared quietly and in their own time. Our bereavement clearance page explains how we go about it.
- Attics and attic conversions, which in 1950s and 60s semis often hold suitcases, Christmas boxes and furniture that went up the ladder forty years ago. See our attic clearance guide for what to expect.
- Garages used as storerooms: lawnmowers, timber, bikes, a freezer that stopped working in the nineties.
- Renovation strip-outs for new owners: old kitchens, bathroom suites, carpets, fitted wardrobes and the furniture that came with the house.
- Single awkward items, such as a piano, a three-piece suite or a wardrobe that will not fit through the bungalow’s hall door in one piece.
If there is a heap of garden waste or builder’s rubble as well, that side of things is a job for a skip or a garden waste clearance service.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Churchtown is easy for us. Almost every house has its own driveway, so the van pulls in off the road and we load from the garage door or the front step, without blocking neighbours or hunting for a space. The roads around Landscape Park and Braemor Road are wide enough for a box van to turn.
Bungalows are quicker to clear than two-storey houses because there are no stairs, and the semis have a standard straight stairs that most furniture comes down in one piece. Garages at the side of the house are the exception: the up-and-over door often has not opened in years, so a side gate or the internal door from the kitchen is sometimes the only way in.
If the house is close to Nutgrove Shopping Centre, the car park traffic at weekends can make the surrounding roads slow, so we tend to suggest a weekday morning. Beyond that, nothing in Churchtown gives us trouble.
Why people in Churchtown call us
Most of the calls we get from Churchtown come from adult children handling a parent’s house, often while living somewhere else in Dublin or abroad. They want one company that will take everything, sort what can be reused or recycled from what goes to a licensed transfer station, and leave the house swept so the estate agent can get in. That is exactly what we do.
The alternative is a skip on the driveway, which still leaves you to carry a houseful of furniture out yourself and to deal with whatever the skip company will not accept. Our article on house clearance versus skip hire sets out the comparison fairly.
Churchtown borders Dundrum to the east and Rathfarnham to the west, with Dartry and Milltown on the city side, and we cover all of them from our Dublin base. If a family is clearing two houses, one in Churchtown and one nearby, we can often do both on the same day.
