Clearing homes in Foxrock
Foxrock was laid out as a residential suburb in the late nineteenth century along the old Harcourt Street railway line, and it has stayed low-density ever since. The houses on Brighton Road, Torquay Road, Westminster Road, Kerrymount Avenue and the roads off them sit on half an acre or more, set back behind hedges and gates, with room for a double garage, a workshop and a gardener’s shed. Some are Victorian and Edwardian originals, many are 1930s to 1960s detached houses, and a growing number have been rebuilt or extensively extended.
The village itself is small, a parade of shops and the church at the junction with Brighton Road, and Leopardstown Racecourse is just over the Westminster Road boundary. Cabinteely lies to the south, Cornelscourt and the N11 to the east and Carrickmines and the M50 beyond. Samuel Beckett grew up here, which the locals will tell you without being asked.
Houses of this size are the biggest domestic jobs we take on, and we plan them as multi-load clearances with an agreed order of rooms rather than hoping it all fits in one van.

What we clear in Foxrock
- Full clearances of large family houses before sale, usually two or three days with the van making repeated runs. Our house clearance page sets out how we approach a big one.
- Attics the size of a floor, which in the older Foxrock houses often are, with decades of trunks, furniture and boxes. See our attic clearance service.
- Garages, workshops and outbuildings full of tools, mowers, garden furniture, timber and the contents of a lifetime’s hobbies.
- Furniture removal of heavy pieces, including pianos, wardrobes and dining tables that need to be dismantled to leave the room.
- Gate lodges, granny flats and converted garages that have been used as storage for years.
If the garden itself needs clearing, with overgrown shrubs, old fencing and heaps of green waste, that is a job for a garden waste clearance service rather than us, and the two visits can be lined up together.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Access is the opposite of a city-centre job. There is always somewhere to park, the question is how far it is from the van to the back door. Long gravel driveways, steps up to the hall, a side passage round to the garage and a shed at the bottom of the garden all add carrying time, and we build that in rather than rushing.
Electric gates need to be left open or we need the code, and if the house is alarmed and empty, someone has to meet us or give us the key safe number. Large pieces of furniture usually went in before the house was extended and sometimes will not come out the same way, so we bring tools to take them apart.
Many Foxrock houses are being cleared by family who live elsewhere, and we are comfortable working from photographs, a key and a phone call, reporting back at the end of each day with pictures of what has been done.
Why people in Foxrock call us
Foxrock enquiries are mostly about a parent’s house, either after a death or because the parent is moving somewhere smaller and the house is going on the market. The scale is the issue. A house that has been lived in for forty years on a site that size can hold a surprising amount, and the family often does not know what is in the outbuildings until the doors are opened. We handle bereavement clearances with care and at the pace the family wants.
We are a Dublin crew, fully insured and holding Waste Collection Permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. Antiques, good furniture and anything with resale or donation value are set aside rather than loaded as waste, recyclables are separated and the rest goes to a licensed transfer station. Our article on what happens to items after a house clearance explains the process from the van to the final destination.
Neighbouring areas are covered too. Cabinteely, Leopardstown and Stillorgan are all a few minutes away, and Killiney and Dalkey are further down the coast.
