Clearing homes in Greystones
Greystones was a fishing village until the railway arrived and the Burnaby estate was laid out from the 1890s, and the result is the villa quarter between Church Road and the sea: red-brick and rendered houses with bay windows, long gardens and attic rooms, on Trafalgar Road, Victoria Road, Portland Road and the Burnaby itself. Church Road has the shops and cafés, and the terraces and cottages around the old harbour and Blacklion make up the rest of the Victorian town.
The 1970s and 1980s brought Kindlestown, Redford, Applewood and the estates off the Kilcoole and Delgany roads, three and four-bed semis and bungalows with garages. Then from the late 1990s the town grew south: Charlesland, with its own shops, park and golf course, Seagreen towards Kilcoole, Burnaby Mill, and in the last decade the Marina Village apartments on the rebuilt harbour and new homes along the Delgany side.
That spread of housing, from a Victorian villa to a brand new apartment, is why the jobs here vary so much. Delgany, Kilcoole and Kilpedder are all a few minutes away and we treat them as part of the same patch.

What we clear in Greystones
- Victorian and Edwardian villas in the Burnaby and on the roads to the sea, with three or four floors, a return stairs and an attic that has been a store since the 1950s. Our attic clearance page explains how we work in a period loft.
- Family homes in Kindlestown, Redford, Applewood and Blacklion being cleared for sale or downsizing. The house clearance service covers garage, shed and attic in the one visit.
- Apartments at Marina Village, Charlesland and along Church Road between tenants or after a sale, with lifts, bin stores and management agents arranged beforehand. See apartment clearance.
- Bereavement clearances in the long-held homes of the Burnaby and the older estates, at the family’s pace, with personal items set aside.
- Downsizing moves from a large house to a smaller one, where we clear what is not coming and leave what is. Read how to prepare for a house clearance for the sorting.
Access, parking and the practical bits
Church Road, the harbour and the roads around the DART station are pay parking and full on any fine weekend, when half of north Wicklow comes for the cliff walk and the beach. For a town-centre house or flat we aim for a weekday morning and get the van as close to the door as possible, hazards on if there is nowhere else.
The Burnaby roads are wide and most villas have a gravel drive, which is as good as it gets for a loaded van; the hard part is inside, carrying down three flights. Kindlestown and the older estates are driveway and side gate. Charlesland and Marina Village have allocated parking, barriers and bin stores, so we speak to the management agent in advance about where the van can sit.
From Dublin we come down the N11, either through Bray and over Windgates or off the N11 further down through Delgany, so Greystones is a short run for us. The Bray side of the N11 at rush hour and the summer weekend traffic to the beach are the two things we time around.
Why people in Greystones call us
The calls split between families clearing a parent’s home, often a Burnaby villa or a Kindlestown semi that has been full since the 1970s, and people moving within the town, from a big house to one of the new apartments, with far more furniture than the new place will take. Landlords with a Charlesland apartment to turn around make up the rest.
A two-person crew with a box van and a waste collection permit does the carrying and the disposal together. Anything in good condition is set aside for reuse or donation, recyclables are separated and the rest goes to a licensed transfer station; our post on house clearance versus skip hire weighs up the alternative of a skip on the drive. For one item, a local option suits better and we will say so.
Bray is the next town north and the way we usually come in, Enniskerry is up the hill behind, and Wicklow Town is the next stop down the coast.
